HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY May 10, 2009

Happy Mother’s day to all of you mommy’s out there that are celebrating Mother’s day today. Last week was mother’s day here in Portugal and it was a lovely day. So then, I am celebrating two weeks in a row, hehehe!!

Today I made this card for all of you that are reading this blog. I love how it turned out and thanks to my friend K, who gave me the idea to coordinate the base CS (card stock) and and the DP (designer paper). I stamped the flower on white CS and then stamped again on another piece of white CS. I cut out the sides of the flower and popped up on dimensionals. One of the leaf was done in the same way. Next, I used my 2-way glue pen on the edges of the flower and a leaf, and then sprinkled the glitter. I made sure to cut the DP in and area to capture the flowers. Each strip of paper is cut to 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. The ribbon was tied to the lower portion of the stamped flower strip. I used Scrapbook adhesives Ez-runner to apply the DP strips to the green base CS. The entire stamped flower strip is popped up on dimensionals. And Whalaaa! A beautiful card made for you.

Ok, the card is a 6×6. I used DCWV DP (Spring ’09 Glitter stack) and CS (Metallic Stack).
Stamps set is Bodacious Bouqet from SU (Stampin’ Up!)
Inks: SU Summer Sun (flower), Certainly Celery (stem), Bashful blue (for inking the edges)
Chalk: Pebbles Inc Pearlescent Chalks for chalking the flower background (love this stuff!)
Ribbon: American Crafts
Glitter: Stampendous ultrafine glitter

Delight in Life

This is a card I sent to a friend when she had her baby boy.  Giving birth is truly a miracle, from the moment of conception, to all else that follows.  We should Delight in Life!

Here is the list of products I used, however, you can always improvise with other embellishments, papers and stamp sets that you have, inorder to create your own unique cards.  Inspiration from www.splitcoaststampers.com, however I cannot find the link.  I will edit should I find it.  SCS rocks!

 Stampin’ Up! Products used:

 Delight in Life (sentiment) and Looks Like Spring (flower) stamp sets.

Certainly celery green gross grain ribbon

Certainly celery green button

Apricot Appeal cardstock (CS)

¼” circle punch to get the ticket corner look.

Chocolate Chip Ink pad for sentiment

Apricot Appeal Ink Pad for the flower

 

Cuttlebug  (CB) Folders:  D’vine Swirls and Bloom Dots

Offray: Green ribbon on button

Bazill Basics Green Cardstock

Measurements:

v  A2  Card which measure 4 4/16”W x 5 8/16”H; same as 4 ¼” x 5 ½ “ or 4.25” x 5.5”, so if using and 8 ½” x 11” CS score down the middle at 4 1/4” and cut at 5 ½ “  You will now have two A2 cards.  Hope this makes sense.

v  Bloom Dots layer is 4”W x 5 4/16”H

v  Green CS layer for sentiment  3  4/16 ”W x 1 8/16”H

v  D’vine Swirl  layer is 3”W x 1 4/16”H

Procedures:

v  Stamp Flower on Apricot appeal CS with Apricot Appeal ink. Cut out with scissors.

v  Stamp sentiment with chocolate chip ink. Color in small flower with red marker, and leaves with green marker.  You can also use colored pencils.  Emboss sentiment layer with D’vine Swirl CB folder.  Layer on green CS.

v  Emboss  Apricot Appeal  CS  with Bloom Dots CB folder.  Attach ribbon, and flower with button. Attach  sentiment on the lower portion.

v  Use enough adhesive and secure to the green CS base.

v  Smile and give yourself a pat on the shoulder.  Job well done!

Elegant Valentine’s Day Card February 13, 2009

Hi Crafters,

Just wanted to share this beautiful V-day card with you.  I custom made it for a dear friend, who also happens to be my best customer.  He is going to give his lovely wife.  This card was CASEd (here to mean: Copy and Selectively Edit) from a SCS member, at the following link: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1075352

Here are the measurements and materials I used.

All paper used are from DCWV. Forever tag is from The Happy Hammer; silver brads from Making Memories; embossing, hearts, key, corners done with  the Cuttlebug Die Cutting Machine; sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! (SU)Elegant Greetings set; Cranberry Crisp Ink pad from SU; Corners punched with my SU  1/4″  circle punch (I don’t have a ticket corner punch, so I use the V mark that is seen right  when the paper is inserted.)Rhinestones (Joann’s); glue dots and dimensionals also used. Silver string was salvaged from a gift set.

Measurements in inches:

Light Pink Cardstock (CS): 6×12 scored at 6 and 9; 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 (you will need to vary this depending on the size of sentiment you are using)

Burgundy CS: 5 14/16 x 5 14/16; 2 14/16 x 5 14/16

Designer Paper (DP): 5 12/16 x 5 12/16; 2 12/16 x 5 12/16

White CS: 2 x 3

What inspires me… February 10, 2009

Hi Ya’ll, had to take a little break there and do some house cleaning.  I finally got around to organizing and putting away the stamps that I was using for Christmas cards.  I have some small plastic containers that I use to sort strips and scrap paper into.   So I put away all the bit and pieces that I can still get some use of.  I try to save every penny in that respect, and save some trees at the same time while accomplishing that mission.   My desk is so clean, but I’m sure before the day is over cardstock (CS), pattern paper (PP) and what’s not will be all over the place again. I will be taking stuff out to make some V-day cards.

Okay, on to what gives me inspiration.  Well, I love to make embellishments, so I also have some smaller containers (from Chinese restaurant) which I use to sort the embellies by color.  When I need inspiration, or a color combo, I simply grab stuff that I already made ahead of time, try them out and see what works. This method works for me because sometimes I don’t feel like making a card, or I don’t have time to make embellies and a card, so I have to work in small time blocks.  I also find that I start with one project in mind and finish with a completely different result.  It all depends on the treasures I find in my hand -made embellies containers.

There is always SplitcoastStampers.com too.  I have spent countless hours browsing cards talented people have uploaded to SCS.  Then I also have some blogs that I visit often to see what’s new and fresh in the crafting world.  If all else fails, I resort to online shopping at my favorite stores.  Since I can’t afford to keep up with all their new products, I try to recreate what I see, with stuff that is in my collection.

3D Valentine's Day Card

Wow!  I am venturing into new territory here.  After years of reading other peoples informative and breathtaking blogs, I have decided to delve in.  So far so good.  For now, I will be playing around with the different buttons and see what happens.  My ultimate goal is to showcase my lovely greeting cards that I so enjoy creating.  I also scrapbook, and so I will be posting what I have done in that field too.  I have lots of ideas as to what I want to blog about, so check back and hopefully you are inspired in some way or form, just as I have been by reading other people’s blogs.  Cheers!

After learning my way around on WordPress, I have edited this post by inserting  the You Tube video of  Dawn demonstrating how to make a gatefold card.  As you can see the possibilities are limitless and left only to your imagination.
